-Becoming a vampire prince! Sonic gasped with wide eyes. He didn't knew much about Shadows past. He thought that his master was a general but didn't know for sure. And even if he was it, had Sonic not believe he could be so especially important because he had so little to do with the rest of the clan.

-Powers always impress on the young and stupid. Shadow said dismissively.
Sonic threw a dark look on his master and was close to mill something to him, but gritted because he didn't want to get beaten up in front of their guest.
-How do you become a prince then? He asked Mephiles instead.
Shadow looked displeased. He had wanted Sonic to listen some more before he started asking questions but Mephiles didn't mind answering.
-One of the generals are nominated by a seated prince. Explained Mephiles.''His prince colleagues must approve the choice. If one protests there will be a new vote. It may take a few years because at least three quarters of the generals need to be asked. If the majority of them approve the general they crowning him at the next council.''
-But what do you need to do to be nominated then? Sonic asked.
-You must show that you are worthy. Shadow said. ''Which starts with knowing when to ask questions and when to be quiet!''
-Relax,old friend. Mephiles laughed.''Its me who have irritated you. Don't let your anger out on the boy.''
